Link to Reference

Index > Linking > Link to Reference

Once you’ve got some reference links to work with (Paste Reference List, Link Command), you just need to assign them to one or more words or phrases. When triggered, the Link to Reference command will offer you a list of all of the reference links in the document, listed by their reference title and sorted alphabetically. Choosing one will create a link, and when rendered will become a link to the url associated with the reference.

The command can be triggered from the ^⌘W menu, but it’s faster to select the text to link and type [[-Tab. The first left square bracket will surround the selected text, and the next left bracket will create an empty [] pair with your cursor in the middle. Pressing tab at this point will launch the Link to Reference command. If you select text by holding down option-shift and using the arrow keys, this all becomes a quick series of keystrokes.
