Like videos? Here’s an intro screencast from version 1.0 of the Bundle. It’s old, but still fully valid. There are just more commands now. Also, be sure to take a look through the video tutorials we’ve put together.

The Blogsmith Bundle is a convenient way to write Blogsmith posts offline, reducing the likelihood of browser crashes destroying your work, allowing easy archiving of your posts, providing invaluable tools for faster writing and guaranteeing clean code for pasting into Blogsmith (or automatically filling out a post and all of its options using the Autofill bookmarklet.

The primary toolset of the bundle revolves around linking, and creating links quickly and correctly. It can do web searches, news searches, blog-specific post searches, tag links, search links and more. It works with Markdown to make link creation and management a breeze. You can automatically import all of (or cherry pick) your current Safari tabs into the document, and then easily access them by nickname while you’re writing using the Link to Reference command (or the Super Linker).

There are additional tools for typography, grammar and spelling, TODO/inline note management, snippets for speedy insertion of things like contest boilerplates, automatic tag suggestions (see Tagging), post previewing (with images), and additional writing tools.

Most of the commands in the bundle can be accessed within any Markdown or MultiMarkdown document by pressing ^⌘W (control-command-W) and choosing from the popup list. There’s a Super Linker command that attempts to intelligently handle a variety of linking options, available by pressing ⌥L (option-L). Some of the commands are tab-triggered, meaning the activate when you press the tab key directly following a given sequence of characters. The headers used by the Autofill command are examples of this.
